Patryk Młyniuk

Patryk is a graduate of the Medical School at Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz (Poland) and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Faculty of Dispensing Optics and Optometry. Currently, he continues his education at the Post-Graduate School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, working on his PhD dissertation on biomechanical properties of the anterior eye structures in keratoconic patients.
His main fields of interest in optometry and optics include contact lenses, anterior eye segment (particularly keratoconus) and microsurgery. Together with the Faculty of Physics, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Patryk is currently researching alternative applications for optical coherence tomography (OCT).
He was one of the researchers involved in the NCN grant project ‘Ophthalmological applications of in vitro measurements using a prototype OCT topographer’. As part of the grant, Patryk has authored and co-authored a number of publications concerning geometry alterations in: daily disposable soft contact lenses during wear, positive/negative powered CLs during extended wear and their impact on the anterior eye segment. The study results have been presented during the BCLA Clinical Conference & Exhibition 2019 in Manchester.
As an introduction to his PhD dissertation, Patryk has published his illustrative article ‘Probing biomechanical properties of the cornea with air-puff-based techniques – an overview’ in Advanced Optical Technologies. He is also the author and co-author of posters presented at the 25th ESCRS Winter Meeting Virtual 2021 and Cornea 2021 and a conference presentation at Cornea 2021. The topics of his presentations were keratoconus, mapping corneal epithelium thickness and anterior eye changes in cases of early keratoconus.
He is also a member of the Councils of PhD Candidates at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Post-Graduate School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Moreover, he is the II Deputy Chairman of d the Medical Schools Doctoral Forum.
Professionally, he is associated with Oftalmika Ophthalmology Clinic in Bydgoszcz.
